The idea of these particular features (the "Rifts of Reality" ones) is that I take 4 pieces of art from each folder in my Favorites, from different artists. I have an abundance of folders, so this will take more than one journal to complete. If the folders are too empty or if I have featured a lot of work from them before, then I leave them out. I hope that everybody enjoys the art as much as I do!!

Walking between still CarsHate is such a strong word.
But not strong enough.
Lust, a word full of cream.
Symbolic hollow dream.
It is like we told you,
"There is nothing we know."
The time we're together,
"Only the lonely can play."
Love is spread around so easily.
Readily tossed, a hazed summer day.
Dry heat heaving in the shadows.
Wet rag on that swollen sweat brow.
Just let me lie; the straps attack me so.
let my lie be; soaking salt from my brow.
and
even when all the world is gone;
when all the life no longer parades,
The line between my ears echoes forever.
Feeding this insanity.
Shanghai SyndromeI'm bound to
a bed of death
and a wall of pain.
The darkness
mocks my fear,
so I laugh back.
Sharp objects
targeted at me
miss by mere
millimeters.
The reflection
of gleaming metal
dance through
the pitch dark
towards me.
I see them,
but I simply
sit there,
restrained,
as sharper tongues
pierce my ears.
As the barking
of what sounds
like angry Mandarin,
I bark back:
"Why am I here?"
"What did I do to you?"
"What did I do to deserve this?"
"I will not partake in your
thrift clothing scheme!"
There's an
elderly woman
from Shanghai,
hiding in her
bamboo closet,
who orchestrated
this devilish
harmony of
imprisonment,
punishment,
confusion,
and laughter.
Yes, laughter.
As she mocks
my pain,
I mock her laughter.
Every punch
that lands
like a plane crash
against my body
gives me another
excuse to laugh.
Why show the pain
on my face
when the pain is
elsewhere?
I have pain
everywhere
except my face.
All I do
is laugh the
pain away.
This goes on
for hours
until the break
of dawn.
With my laughte
Sweet SolitudeSweet Solitude
A burning feeling is inside of me,
to vanish for a bit and not be seen.
Disappearing just for a while,
to lose myself and not be found.
A place where I can be alone;
where only silence can be heard.
The only sound will be the
beating of my aching heart.
Where there are no issues from life,
or drama from something going on.
Where I can hear the wind as it whispers to me.
Feeling its soft breath up against my skin,
as it slowly kisses me gently,
soothing my inner self as I listen to its sweet melody.
In this place where I sit,
alone and calm,
nothing else seems to matter
as time freezes and falls apart.
No phones that will ring,
or people who need me.
Especially the ones who don't
understand when I need to be
with just me.
Here I can sit and look at the water,
for time has stopped and is not moving forward.
I can see the ripples in the sea,
hearing it splash against the rocks ever so gracefully.
A soothing sound that is relaxing me.
Grains of sand run through my fingers,

To anybody who loves excellent live cd's - "Alchemy" by Dire Straits is absolutely fantastic!! The sound quality is excellent, the drummer is one of the best that I've ever had the great fortune to hear & Mark Knopfler's guitar speaks, cries & sings for him - God, can that man play guitar!! My eldest son Seth recommended this cd to me & also told me that the keyboard player has 4 keyboards on stage with him (he's also fabulous, & so is Seth for getting me to buy this brilliant cd). Even the saxophone player is one of the best that I've ever heard. My next live cd recommendation from Seth is an "iconic" one by Bob Marley & The Wailers, & I'm also going to buy some of REM's great live albums. I love the energy of live cd's - so long as the sound quality, songs & performance are excellent.
It was Seth's 27th birthday yesterday. He is my oldest son. He didn't want any gifts for his birthday, but he was lucky because a big, comfortable, black chair that he had ordered online with my youngest son's help, arrived yesterday. They spent a while putting the chair together, with a couple of minor mishaps along the way. My youngest son has a similar chair and already it has been besmirched by his gorgeous cat Ash (who loves food) vomiting on it - it's a cream color too.
Seth treated us to some of his music yesterday - Dead Kennedys, Smashing Pumpkins, Children of Bodom & Tom Waits. Seth has a large cd collection with all sorts of music in it. He received 2 great cd's from his lovely English fiancee for his birthday, and he was so happy!! It will be great when his fiancee arrives here to live in July.
