Siren by darkallegiance666 Siren by darkallegiance666
My version of a Desert Siren.

I originally sketched this figure as a possible drawing for my side of a recent collaboration, but I didn't think that it would fit as well as the drawing that I ended up using.

My eldest son Seth took a great interest in this drawing when I showed him the sketch for it. He thought that it was reasonable that the Siren was rooted to the ground, because the roots would have to go deep for her to find water. He knew more about the legends of Sirens than I thought that he would know.

My middle son says that he doesn't like it & that unless it only took an hour (which it didn't), it represents time ill spent.

My youngest son says that he likes the "hot woman body".

Funny - the responses that you can get from different people about an ordinary drawing!! :D

Watercolor & fine liner.
Completed 20th September, 2012.

Sure - that would be great. Please let me know if you do - maybe send me a photo of the finished pedal if you use it?

Thanks!! I was going to use the idea for the collaboration with you, but I went with the other one instead. The slant of this figure didn't look as good as the other when put beside your cactus. :D

I personally think her face resembles a deep one, its lovecrftian for sure. i like it though. I also like the contrasts here between heavily textured and plain form.
and is that an eye on a mountain like the eye of Solomon?
or the masonic eye?
btw I found a cartoon you may like. but only cuz yuo can spot so many things in it.

Thanks for the great compliment!! I drew 4 different faces for her, but I liked this one the best.

The "eye" just happened - seemingly by itself. It definitely wouldn't be the Masonic eye, though. I'll have to Google Image the eye of Solomon. I know one of his magic spells, but that's about all.

Please send me the link for the cartoon? What is it called?

it's adventure type

I heard of the eye of Solomon also in a game it being a gem.
and an apocripha book speaking of him and his magic but that is about it

I wondered why you weren't online. I thought that it must be either your computer or that you were ill. Your pc is fixed now? That's fabulous news & I'm really happy about it. :D

I can't remember his name, but the heavily textured inking style put me in mind of the artist that illustrated this book cover [link] along with many others. I'm curious about the lines coming up from her hands.

Thank you!! I love the illustration on the cover of that book - I haven't seen it before, so thank you very much for the link.

The lines coming up from the hands were supposed to be thinner, and represent beckoning, but they didn't look good thin, so I had to thicken them.
